Kimoto Tech is at Automotive Interiors Expo North America in Novi this year to unveil its new functional films for integration in automotive interiors.
The films on display are designed for HMI, such as touch displays and other touch-activated surfaces, and include hard-coated and formable LevSurf films, light diffusion films, Optsaver and Lightup for display backlight and interior lighting, and protective adhesive films used in the production of automotive display solutions.
The company’s business development and marketing manager, Christoph Bosshard, said, “The LevSurf material offers great scratch- and chemical- resistance without the need for additional production steps such as protection lacquers or UV curing. Its high optical quality allows the material to replace glass in displays, which reduces weight and therefore makes vehicles more energy efficient, to reduce the CO2 footprint over the full lifecycle.
âThe base film is coated with our proprietary UV curing chemical solution to achieve the necessary optical and mechanical properties in our clean room coating lines in Japan,” Bosshard continued. “Clean room processing allows us to reach the necessary optical quality required for today’s demanding high-resolution display systems.
âDesigners of car interiors looking to integrate flowing lines and seamless parts in the cockpit area can use our films to achieve this,” he added.
âKimoto has participated in Automotive interiors show in Europe for several years and we decided the US show would be the right place to showcase our new products. We are looking to meet OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers during the show to discuss design and production opportunities.â
