The GV80 Coupe Concept has been unveiled by Genesis at an event at Genesis House New York. The four-passenger vehicle – inspired by the X Speedium Coupe Concept unveiled by the brand in 2022 – combines a practical SUV with the characteristics of a sports car. The OEM states that the concept is a “statement of intent for more emotional, performance-oriented models”.
Opening the vehicle’s striking magma-colored doors, the driver is met with a three-spoke, sports-car-inspired steering wheel which contrasts the four bucket seats upholstered in black Nappa and suede leather. To enhance the interior further, the seats all feature plaid double stitching, orange piping and carbon fiber weave.
Designed to enhance body support during cornering for additional safety and comfort, the bucket seats feature a carbon-fiber back rest which has been painted in the same color as the exterior of the car to accentuate the concept’s sporty feel.
Located behind the rear bucket seats, and to increase and reinforce the structural stiffness of the body, is a G-Matrix strut brace.
“It emphasizes the duality of the Genesis brand by showcasing the antagonistic character that lives within the Athletic and Elegance parameters of Genesis’s design philosophy,” said Luc Donckerwolke, group chief creative officer, Genesis. “At its inception, the Genesis brand began creating luxury sedans, which evolved into the G70, G80 and G90 models.
“Over the past seven years, we have added more lifestyle-oriented models to the portfolio, such as our GV80 and GV70 SUVs. Now we are pushing the envelope with more emotional cars that elevate Genesis’s performance and dynamic attributes.”
