Italian auto maker Lancia has released details of its latest concept vehicle, the Pu+Ra HPE, which features a next-generation and futuristic interior space. Inspired by contemporary interior design, the Pu+Ra HPE benefits from a “fluid architecture” and a great attention to detail.
Drawing inspiration from Italian furniture, the vehicle features a round carpet and minimalistic yet ergonomically designed front seats with unique proportions and bold shapes. These geometric forms flow into the rest of the interior space, with new round tables situated in the center console and dashboard. These are based on a single piece of round glass.
Large windows ensure the interior compartment benefits from a huge amount of natural light to create a comfortable environment for occupants while conveying “the typical feeling of a warm Italian home”. Blinds feature to ensure the passenger compartment can be shaded if required.
As part of ‘Sustainability by Lancia’ – a manifesto where every element within a vehicle’s interior “reflects the idea of an elegant and simultaneously sustainable home feeling” – the OEM has partnered with many Italian brands to bring sustainable materials to the Pu+Ra HPE’s cabin, with up to 70% of the touchable surfaces made with eco-sustainable materials.
When reinterpreting the panno Lancia wool cloth upholstery used for Lancia’s seats in collaboration with Cassina, the OEM selected to use ocher velvet with a GreenGuard certification, based on the low emissions of chemicals and GWP environmental impact.
Additionally, the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE’s door panels are covered with Marm\More, a material consisting of up to 50% waste from marble dust and recycled fabric. The solution is soft to the touch and waterproof, and is produced by Limonta and startup FILI PARI. The vehicle’s table is made from M49 BioAcetate Renew Mazzucchelli, a bio-based cellulose acetate, and the rear shelf from an upcycled raw material.
The car’s natural wool carpet is completely handmade with no waste. Its circular shape accompanies the styling of the dashboard and the table.
A discussion video series has been released, with the first short, The future of interior design, between well-being and mobility, available on Lancia’s YouTube channel here.
