A new partnership between Automobili Pininfarina and integrated communications specialist Deutsche Telekom should give owners of the new Battista pure-electric hypercar the ability to access online services in more than 50 countries worldwide – claimed to be a first in the world of hypercars.
Pininfarina says the Battista will feature an embedded SIM and roaming technology for optimized connectivity worldwide. Using these components, Deutsche Telekom’s roaming partner network and roaming traffic steering logic will enable identification of the strongest network, ensuring owners don’t find themselves in communication blackspots even as they cross international borders.
This connectivity will also allow over-the-air (OTA) updates, with the system able to remotely update 26 individual electronic control modules covering the powertrain, advanced safety and driving dynamics systems, vehicle control and infotainment as well as digital services. The software updates can be delivered via wi-fi when parked within range in the garage, or using the embedded SIM on the road.
Automobili Pininfarina chief product and engineering officer Paolo Dellachà commented on the development, “All of these elements of connectivity contribute to our seamless Life on Board concept. Everything from the driver-oriented user experience to the convenience features such as global roaming and OTA updates has been developed and engineered to bring heightened convenience to our luxury hyper GT.”
