3 Screen Solutions (3SS) and Obigo have announced a strategic collaboration, integrating Obigo’s in-car browser with 3SS’ 3Ready Automotive video entertainment platform. This partnership aims to open avenues for automotive manufacturers, content providers and consumers to reap various benefits, enhancing the in-car entertainment experience.
The Obigo browser, already embedded in millions of vehicles globally, is now integrated with 3Ready and enables a broader audience to enjoy the rich entertainment offerings powered by 3SS. The companies state that this collaboration will ensure a swift product rollout for OEMs, to deliver positive user experiences for consumers while facilitating continuous improvement and expansion.
Drawing on Obigo’s extensive 25 years of browser expertise and embedded systems, the joint venture provides a pre-integrated in-car solution. This accelerates time-to-market for automotive customers, eliminating the need for them to invest resources in developing their native entertainment systems. The collaboration mitigates technology risks and tackles technical challenges unique to the in-vehicle environment.
One of the key advantages of this collaboration is flexibility. The 3Ready Automotive platform’s service configuration and user interface are customizable based on the OEM’s specific requirements. Auto makers can access the 3Ready entertainment platform through the Obigo browser or opt for a standalone OEM entertainment app based on 3Ready, available in Obigo’s recently launched App store.
The award-winning 3Ready platform boasts partnerships with local and global content providers, offering a pre-certified content offering to expedite in-car entertainment service launches. This collaboration brings together two proven technologies — Obigo, present in over six million vehicles globally, and 3Ready, enjoyed by nearly 70 million households worldwide.
David Hwang, founder and CEO of Obigo, spoke of his excitement about the partnership: “Now, OEMs who choose Obigo can deliver 3Ready’s compelling array of content to car-buyers, pre-integrated and pre-verified, so they can launch faster.”
Kai-Christian Borchers, co-founder and MD of 3SS, described the significance of the collaboration, calling Obigo an “innovation powerhouse”.
