All existing Polestar 2 vehicles are to benefit from the P2.9 over-the-air (OTA) software update, the 15th remote software update to the vehicle since 2020. This OTA includes the integration of YouTube into the vehicle’s infotainment system – a feature which will come as standard in all new Polestar models.
An update to the Polestar Range Assistant app will enable drivers to monitor energy consumption from the last 20, 40 or 100 miles, and provide real-time information to aid efficiency. Furthermore, the real-world related range figure – instead of the default range projection – will now be shown on the driver display.
The P2.9 update also brings additional functionalities to Apple CarPlay, with additional phone and media information now showing on the home screen tile. Calls can now also be dealt with using buttons on the steering wheel. These calls and Apple Maps are also shown on the car’s driver display.
“We know how much our customers look forward to over-the-air upgrades and I am convinced this one will be well received, with notable new features and enhancements,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO, Polestar.
“YouTube is great for entertainment while charging, and our updated Range Assistant app delivers more accurate predictions and supports an improved driving style. Bringing Apple Maps to the driver display is one of many important updates to Apple CarPlay in Polestar 2.”
