Continental has unveiled the Smart Cockpit High-Performance Computer (HPC) which offers “ideally adapted system performance for a pre-integrated set of functions in vehicles”.
Continental has designed the solution to provide a balance between user experience, system performance, costs and a short development time. Furthermore, the Smart Cockpit HPC benefits from fast response times and a smooth user interface even for cross-domain functions. The Smart Cockpit HPC – with its pre-integrated, advanced cluster and infotainment functions – will enable vehicle OEMs to reduce both hardware costs and time expenditure when designing and producing vehicle interiors. The solution benefits from a fast time to market, with order to start of production taking just 18 months.
The Smart Cockpit HPC also enables the integration of several domains and functions, including cluster, infotainment – with an interface to an Android OS – and advanced driver assistance systems. Additionally, by combining all cluster and infotainment functions into a single unit, the Smart Cockpit HPC reduces the number of required control units and wiring harnesses.
Continental states that the solution is designed for the typical configuration of two displays for the center stack and the instrument cluster, but this can be expanded to include up to three displays. Despite the Smart Cockpit HPC being a preconfigured solution, customer-specific adaptations can be made in terms of human-machine and hardware interfaces.
“Continental provides the automotive market with a comprehensive range of HPC solutions,” said Jean-Francois Tarabbia, head of the architecture and networking business area, Continental. “With the Smart Cockpit HPC, we now offer our customers the opportunity to bring an increasingly automated and exciting mobility experience to the road in a cost-optimized way and with short development times.”
