A range of new features set to improve the Volkswagen ID.4 EV have been announced by Volkswagen of America. Changes will be made to enhance infotainment system performance in addition to the vehicle’s charging experience. The update will be available for all MY21 models and a selected number of MY22 vehicles.
The first update for the ID.4 EV is viewed as a prerequisite for future vehicle features and updates and includes additional information being added to the ID.Cockpit digital display for drivers. Extra battery information in the form of a stage of charge percentage will be added to the current battery icon, with the range also shown in the display.
The current drive mode, a trip computer with current driving data and the ambient temperature will also be added to the ID.Cockpit display. Minor bug fixes and security improvements will also be included in the update. Furthermore, three years of fast charging on the Electrify America network will be added to the vehicle, combined with a charge routing feature being added to the ID.4’s native navigation system to make it easier for users to find Electrify America stations and certain levels of charging speeds.
“The ID.4 has been very successful for Volkswagen—both in bringing new customers into the brand and in introducing traditional ICE drivers to EVs,” said Andrew Savvas, executive vice president, chief sales and marketing officer, Volkswagen North American Region. “We’re excited to upgrade the software in MY21 and certain MY22 ID.4s to enhance the user experience.”
