Cariad and YouTube are partnering to bring the video platform to Volkswagen Group brands, beginning with certain Audi models this summer. The YouTube application can be downloaded through the Volkswagen Group’s Group Application Store. The video streaming service will be available for other Group brands in the future.
Drivers and passengers of select Audi models will be able to access all aspects of the YouTube app via their car’s infotainment interface. The app works exactly as it would on a smartphone, enabling users to watch videos when the vehicle is parked.
The partnership makes YouTube the first video platform to be available for download via the Group Application Store. Initially, Audi will equip 2024 Audi A4, A5, Q5, A6, A7, A8, Q8 e-tron and e-tron GT in Europe, the USA, Canada, Mexico and overseas markets with the new store. The store and application will become available to additional models and regions going forward.
“YouTube now feels like seamlessly built into the car turning waiting time into entertainment,” said Peter Bosch, CEO of Cariad. “And this is just the beginning, we will continuously expand the open ecosystem for our Group brands. With solutions like that, customers experience true value through software integration.”
