Chinese auto manufacturer Geely Auto Group and technology conglomerate Tencent have signed an agreement for strategic cooperation in the fields of digitization, intelligent cockpits, autonomous drive, and low-carbon development.
The two parties will work together to fully digitize all aspects of an automotive product lifecycle from product development, manufacturing, marketing and vehicle utilization, to aftersales service using joint technologies. Notably, the companies say they will also work to develop the next-generation of intelligent vehicle cockpits, integrating both Geely and Tencent ecosystems, which they claim will open up new mobile and mobility service applications while improving the user experience.
An Conghui, president and CEO of Geely Auto Group, commented, “The global automotive industry is facing profound changes and new technologies are restructuring the industrial ecology. Looking ahead to the future, we must be open to cooperation, joint development and new innovations. With a cooperative relationship spanning three years, Geely and Tencent are now deepening their partnership and working to digitalize the entire automotive value chain. At the same time, we hope to fulfil our responsibility to society by jointly promoting sustainable low-carbon development throughout the automotive industry.”
