Spanish automotive interior technology supplier Grupo Antolin has entered a strategic partnership with Osram Automotive Lighting Systems (AMLS) to develop digital projection systems on various surfaces, for example on a vehicle’s headliner substrate. It will also look at options for projection onto instrument panels, pillar trims and panoramic roofs.
According to Grupo Antolin, digital projection technology would enable a wide range of possibilities for displaying content including outdoor environments, videos, visual patterns, logos or images such as visual warning signs.
AMLS’s digital projection systems are based on the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) approach. Osram notes that DMD projection modules can be integrated into the passenger compartment to display projections on various surfaces in the vehicle interior. The modules can also be synchronized with functional and ambient lighting and individually adapted to different driving scenarios and passenger moods.
