Display technology specialist LG Display has unveiled its latest next-generation organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and advanced display technologies at Society for Information Display’s (SID) Display Week 2024 in San Jose, California, which takes place May 14-16.
Under the theme “A Better Future”, the company is showcasing various OLED tech, including OLEDoS for VR and large-sized OLED panels with enhanced picture quality, as well as automotive display solutions optimized for software-defined vehicles (SDV), including high-definition OLEDs and LTPS LCDs.
LG Display’s advanced thin OLED (ATO) for vehicles is 20% thinner than standard OLEDs, enabling “sleek design and increased price competitiveness while maintaining excellent picture quality”, the company states. The company’s tandem OLED technology, which stacks two organic light-emitting layers, is designed to provide durability, brightness and lifespan.
The OLEDoS technology for VR is being shown to the public for the first time at the show; this technology features increased screen brightness and resolution compared to the company’s current solutions.
“We will continue to introduce innovative products that can provide new value to customers through constant research and development, while solidifying our technological leadership,” said Soo-young Yoon, CTO and executive vice president at LG Display.
