Indian automobile manufacturing company Mahindra & Mahindra will launch a new five-door variant of the Thar, named the Thar Roxx, on August 15 in India. This new model has been designed to deliver increased space and comfort, making it a more practical version of the three-door Thar with an enhanced premium feel, according to the company.
The Thar Roxx will feature a new steering wheel with additional buttons, borrowed from the latest range of XUVs, to accommodate adaptive cruise control and other advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) functionalities.
The vehicle will feature a range of safety updates, including an improved collapsible steering column, six airbags, a 360° camera, L2 ADAS, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, seat-belt reminders, three-point seat belts for all occupants and adjustable headrests for all seats.. Mahindra says it is aiming for a 5-star crash test rating.
The Thar Roxx will include a larger 10.25in touchscreen unit from the XUV 3XO, featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A premium sound system is also expected.
The new model will also have two sunroof options: a smaller single-pane unit for lower variants and a larger dual-pane panoramic sunroof for top-tier trims.
Unlike the current Thar, the Thar Roxx will include an automatic dual-zone climate control system.
