Chinese vehicle manufacturer XPeng has announced the launch of its third production model, the smart family sedan XPeng P5, in which the in-car space and fittings can be reconfigured to create a personalized interior.
XPeng says that the interior can be reconfigured into a full-width movie theater, complete with eight speakers and a projection screen, or alternatively, occupants can reshape the interior into a full-length, private sleeping compartment.
Furthermore, other home comforts, such as a built-in fridge and air freshness and fragrance control, are also found inside the vehicle. To reduce interior noise levels, XPeng has carried out extensive NVH suppression through the use of 32 hollow partitions and 40 sound-suppressing cotton pads across the body.
“With the P5, we have delivered a new level in sophistication and technological advancement for smart EVs in China, at a competitive price point,” commented He Xiaopeng, chairman and CEO, XPeng. “We believe this is an age of intelligence, and that intelligence will redefine mobility as a whole.”
