At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which took place on July 11-14, Ford unveiled its new all-electric SUV Ford Capri.
The iconic two-door sport coupe – which was launched in 1969 and ceased production in 1986 – has been retooled as an electric SUV that “rewires Capri for the EV generation”, the auto maker says. It comes in two trims – standard Capri and Capri Premium.
The all-electric Ford Capri has been designed to focus on enhanced driver and passenger convenience, with features such as an adjustable infotainment screen, keyless entry and start, and heated front seats that incorporate memory and massage functions.
As standard, the vehicle features Partial Sensico trim, powered driver sport seats with massage function, a seven-speaker sound system with integrated soundbar and a 14.6in touchscreen with tilting function. Seats will also have a heating option.
The driver also has the ability to adjust the viewing angle of the infotainment display to reveal a secret compartment known as ‘My Private Locker’, according to Ford. A second compartment, the MegaConsole, is located below the front armrest, with a capacity of 17 liters of storage, and the trunk has a capacity of 572 liters.
The premium trim incorporates a power-operated tailgate, matrix LED headlamps with glare-free technology, a premium Bang and Olufsen sound system and LED ambient lighting.
It also features five different driving modes: normal, eco, sport, individual, or for the all-wheel drive version, traction.
ADAS also comes as standard, with the driver assistance pack consisting of 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras and three radar sensors.
Behind the wheel, Ford’s Sync system houses everything from navigation to smartphone connection.
