Chinese manufacturer Nio has announced the launch of its latest offering, the EC6. The all-electric sports SUV is the third production model in the company’s portfolio.
The car continues the interior design language of Nio’s existing models, though a highlight of the new vehicle is its panoramic moonroof, which maximizes natural light in the cabin. Notably, it is claimed that the roof’s laminated glass insulates against 83% of heat and 99.9% of UV rays.
Further interior details include a microfiber headliner and the use of Napa leather for controls such as the steering wheel, while the dash and door panels feature a matt finish.
The EC6 has a fully digital cabin with a 9.8in instrument cluster complemented by an 11.3in HD multi-touch center display with NOMI Mate 2.0 – NIO’s digital assistant – sited above it, which uses an AMOLED (active matrix OLED) full-circular display. Like Nio’s other models, the EC6 features pre-installed NIO Pilot hardware, including a Mobileye EyeQ4 chip and 23 sensors. Nio says the system supports more than 20 driving functions covering typical scenarios of car use in China, and these can be upgraded over time via firmware-over-the-air (FOTA).
Nio also states that three new fragrances have been added to its vehicle fragrance system, which interacts with a vehicle user’s NIO account to match fragrance to mood or driving situation, with concentration adjustment also available via NOMI or the center screen.
