Renault has unveiled the upcoming Twingo E-Tech’s cabin at the Brussels Motor Show. The hatchback features an interior that revisits the iconic features of the first Twingo and updates them with modern design and materials.
The dashboard of the Twingo E-Tech electric prototype features a 7in digital instrument panel and a 10.1in central multimedia screen and, taking inspiration from the first Twingo, there is a visually striking red hazard warning lights button in a translucent bubble.
The whole interior is designed with function as a priority. There is easily accessible stowage, with spaces under the dashboard and between the two front seats to store bags and everyday objects, and a flat space under the cylinder, running the width of the cabin, that enables passengers to store a book or phone.
The upholstery is inspired by the colorful patterns of the first-generation model. It matches the exterior body color, with subtle accents on the front door panels and on the dashboard facing the passenger. The floor of the prototype is made of tinted cork, which is resistant and durable.
The rear bench of the Twingo E-Tech prototype slides and folds in two 50/50 sections, and the vehicle also features a panoramic roof. Some nifty design features include the front headrest with a magnetic area for rear passengers to affix their phones, and an elastic strap that doubles as a map pocket to keep a water bottle close at hand. Renault says the seat-back adjustment knob is inspired by skateboard wheels, in a nod to Twingo’s urban operating environment.
The new Twingo E-Tech EV is expected to go on sale in 2026 with a starting price of around £17,000 (US$20,700).
