Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV. Central to the vehicle’s luxurious interior is the MBUX intelligent cockpit, powered by Nvidia.
The debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show followed the launches of two performance SUVs – the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 and the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Both models will also feature MBUX. The additions bring the total of MBUX-equipped Mercedes models to nearly 20, including the all-electric EQC SUV.
The Maybach GLS was designed with comfort, convenience and decadence in mind. There are spacious rear massaging seats, a fridge and a dedicated white osmanthus blossom fragrance. The SUV automatically lowers when passengers enter and exit.
Nvidia says that the AI-powered MBUX infotainment system combines natural language processing, smooth 3D graphics and an augmented reality-boosted navigation system to bring new levels of intuitive interaction and safety to the vehicle. Its technology is said to have the highest performance that any auto maker has ever shipped in an infotainment system. MBUX is also updateable over the air.
In a separate announcement, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the self-learning MBUX multimedia system will also be offered with the V-Class MPV from December 2019.
