Kia has showcased the interior of its latest K8 premium sports saloon, which it says blends premium luxury with style and unrivaled comfort. The company claims that every element of the K8 interior has been designed with high-end luxury in mind, from the use of detailed wood elements through to the integration of connected technology.
A panoramic curved display links a 12in digital cluster and a 12in infotainment system, bringing together connectivity services and infotainment systems. At the bottom of the curved display sits the infotainment system and air-conditioning controls, operated via touchpad; a centrally located button enables switching of operation modes between the two systems. Notably, K8 is the first Kia vehicle to feature an audio system from UK supplier Meridian.
“The interior of the K8 is a canvas for our ambition to define the future. Nature meets modern technology, and refinement meets uncompromised comfort. It is a first-class travel space that fulfills the needs of the driver and passengers,” commented Karim Habib, SVP and head of Kia’s Global Design Center. “The K8 is a modern saloon with a dynamic exterior that is matched by its progressive and elegant interior. This car – our first since our new company rebranding – puts us on the path forward as we look to realize our future goals.”
The company highlights that the detailed finishing on the wood surfaces has been inspired by modern yachts, with the wood trims complemented by exposed metal, marrying traditional styling with contemporary elements. Kia’s innovative Star Cloud lighting system also features in the K8 interior, projecting glittering and interactive ambient lighting on the door trim and dashboard areas.
