Optical sensors and emitters provider AMS Osram has launched the third generation of its XLS signal lamp product family.
XLS (eXchangable LED Signal lamp) is an ECE-compliant platform with several light sources to cover the main signal applications in vehicles. The company says this reduces complexity and costs for car manufacturers and can help lead to faster development processes.
The platform has standardized interfaces to the luminaire, and workshop mechanics and drivers can replace the lamps in the event of a fault.
“The standardized XLS light sources from AMS Osram are creating new opportunities in vehicle lighting,” said Ralf Hying, head of XLS. “Combining performance, cost efficiency and sustainability, the XLS range is the ideal choice for a wide range of automotive lighting applications. The third generation of the XLS signal lamp is setting new standards in terms of efficiency and economy.”
The family currently features three different lighting solutions in yellow and white. A red version is planned for 2024.
