Aleck Jones, formerly the creative lead of CALLUM’s design and engineering business, has been appointed the company’s new head of design. He joined CALLUM in 2019 and has been heavily involved in co-creating some of the company’s most well-regarded projects including its most recent – the CALLUM Skye, a fully electric multi-terrain vehicle.
Jones will lead the team on a day-to-day basis, reporting to and working alongside design director Ian Callum.
After starting his career at JLR as an Alias designer working on the Jaguar I-PACE and Land Rover Defender, Jones moved for a short time to Triumph Motorcycles. He returned to JLR to develop design solutions to enable the company’s Special Vehicle Operations to offer bespoke, low-volume and ultra-premium variants.
“Having long admired Aleck’s creativity, we were delighted he joined us at the start of CALLUM,” said Ian Callum. “Through his innovative thinking on projects such as the CALLUM Vanquish 25, Nyobolt EV and Skye, Aleck is both a hugely talented designer and now also capable of leading, challenging and nurturing our next generation.”
Jones added, “I’m delighted to head the incredible team of people here. With the benefit of drawing on Ian’s experience, blended with the talented innovators of tomorrow that play a key part in the design team, this is a unique and very special opportunity I’m thrilled to accept.”
The promotion follows a period of growth for CALLUM, with the expanding design team of 10 successfully delivering an increasing number of white-label and own-brand projects to clients in the automotive and lifestyle sectors.
