The 2025 Kia K5 debuted at the Chicago Auto Show with updates aimed at enhancing its sporty appeal and technological features. Key highlights include a new 2.5-liter normally aspirated engine, updated design cues inside and out and an array of tech upgrades across its trim levels.
The new model has subtle refinements, with a focus on the EX trim, which includes a Bose premium audio system, powered driver’s seat with lumbar support, digital key, heated steering wheel and power folding mirrors with integrated LED turn signals.
Design refinements align with Kia’s Opposites United philosophy, featuring new Star Map LED front DRLs, angular tail-lights and a revamped lower fascia. Wheel options range from 16in to 19in alloys, with performance-focused tires available on the GT trim.
Inside, the K5 offers a new single-pane curved display that houses a 12-inch instrument screen and a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen navigation unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with Kia’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system, enhance connectivity and user experience. A revised HVAC/audio-access display and an updated center console with larger cupholders and wireless charging pad further elevate interior functionality.
Under the hood, a new 2.5-liter engine replaces the previous 1.6-liter turbo, delivering more horsepower and robust torque. All-wheel drive is available on select trims, while the GT variant retains its powerful 290hp engine paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Steven Center, COO and EVP of Kia America, commented, “With a line-up of variants, including available all-wheel drive for places just like Chicago in the wintertime, the new 2025 K5 continues to offer a unique and striking alternative in an otherwise stalwart segment.
“The updates for 2025 position the K5 in the sweet spot for those needing room for five but prefer to make a bold statement when it comes to their vehicle.”
