Škoda Auto has announced an enhancement to its voice assistant, Laura, with the integration of ChatGPT via the Chat Pro function from technology partner Cerence. This upgrade, available in several Škoda models, aims to improve everyday convenience for drivers by providing more comprehensive and targeted information.
The integration of ChatGPT will enable Laura to answer a broader range of questions beyond its original scope. If a user query falls outside the categories of Vehicle, Data, Weather, News, Sports or Stocks, it will be directed to Chat Pro, which connects to ChatGPT. Responses from ChatGPT are prefaced with “According to ChatGPT…” to distinguish the source of information.
Škoda says it has ensured that user and vehicle data remains secure with this integration. ChatGPT does not access personal or vehicle data and all interactions are processed anonymously. Requests are deleted immediately after processing to uphold data protection standards. Users can control the activation of this feature through the vehicle’s privacy settings, except in Enyaq models, where it is always active.
The ChatGPT integration is available in the Škoda Enyaq family models with the new 4.0 software version for the 2024 model year, as well as in the new-generation Škoda Superb and Kodiaq, and the updated Škoda Octavia. The Chat Pro function currently supports English, Spanish, Czech and German. To access this feature, users need an active Infotainment Online Package.
