Automotive OEM Hyundai has extended its voluntary commitment to install rear seat reminder systems in the majority of the company’s vehicle portfolio. All of its US market 2023 models – excluding the Nexo – come with Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) as standard, a technology which reminds the vehicle’s driver to check the rear seat area to ensure a child or pet isn’t left inside the car once parked to prevent things such as heatstroke occurring.
A more advanced, ultra-sonic Rear Occupant Alert technology will be available as an optional extra on several of the OEM’s vehicles in addition to being installed as standard on the Santa Fe PHEV and Santa Fe HEV models.
“Hyundai is committed to providing leading-edge safety technologies for our customers, passengers and for other road users,” said Brian Latouf, global chief safety officer, Hyundai Motor Company. “With Hyundai’s standard safety technology offerings, Hyundai is helping our customers avoid crashes and minimize the likelihood of fatalities and injuries on the road. These safety accomplishments are another proof point of Hyundai’s leadership in the automotive industry.”
