Having first introduced Crew Protect Assist in 2013 on its Octavia model, Škoda has now made the car occupant safety system available on its Scala, Kamiq, Karoq, Kodiaq, Superb and Enyaq ranges. Crew Protect Assist works in combination with a vehicle’s radar and stability control systems to react accordingly to a potential or impending accident to enhance safety for occupants.
To deliver the highest possible level of protection for the driver and passengers, Crew Protect Assist reacts to inputs from the vehicle’s stability and radar systems before automatically pre-tensioning seatbelts to minimize occupant movement, were an impact to occur. Additional features include the safety system working with the electronic stability control to close windows and sunroofs, leaving windows with a 5cm opening.
If an accident does occur, other Škoda safety features kick in, such as the vehicle’s airbags and emergency call. If the incident is avoided, however, the seatbelts will automatically release.
Crew Protect Assist also works in combination with Emergency Assist, a system developed to reduce the chance of a collision happening by monitoring the driver’s condition and behavior.
