An engineering integration between seating systems developer Lear and GM is set to begin in the second quarter of 2025. The collaboration will introduce the ComfortMax Seat, which integrates thermal comfort technologies directly into seat covers to enhance occupant comfort, improve thermal management and boost manufacturing efficiency.
“We are honored to partner with General Motors, a company renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation, as we bring the ultimate in seating comfort and design to select GM vehicles. Our ComfortMax Seat exemplifies Lear’s dedication to innovation that drives customer satisfaction while also streamlining manufacturing processes,” said Ray Scott, president and CEO of Lear.
The ComfortMax Seat by Lear, part of the company’s Thermal Comfort Systems (TCS), provides improved thermal management, reducing the time it takes for heating and ventilation to take effect by up to 40%. The seat also features a modular design that simplifies the assembly process and can cut down on the number of parts by up to 50%, Lear notes.
“With our in-house capabilities and advanced technologies, Lear remains at the forefront of reshaping the automotive seating experience. We’re pleased to provide premium comfort and industry-defining innovation for GM’s valued customers,” said Scott.
