In their first collaboration, Harman and Abarth have partnered to equip the new Abarth 500e with a JBL premium sound system to provide occupants with a 360° audio experience.
Fitted as standard on the Abarth 500e Turismo, the JBL audio system provides listeners with powerful sound, described as “clean highs, roaring bass and well-defined mids”. The audio solution consists of seven high performance speakers, made up of two tweeters, two midwoofers, two rear door full range speakers and a subwoofer in the trunk, connected via a 320W eight-channel amplifier.
The sound system also features technologies such as Virtual Center, an algorithm which ensures that each occupant in the cabin, regardless of their position, is provided with a coherent sound stage, and Speed Adjusted Volume, which maintains the perceived music reproduction level and low frequency balance at all vehicle speeds, with the volume and sound spectrum automatically adjusting as speed increases.
“JBL and Abarth share a love of great design, impeccable quality and great music played loud, and we are thrilled with our collaboration on the new Abarth 500e,” said Greg Sikora, senior director, global acoustic systems engineering, Harman. “Stylish, bold, and loud in all the right places, JBL and Abarth bring a new energy to driving.”
