Developer of audio systems Warwick Acoustics has chosen MIRA Technology Park as the location for its new sustainable manufacturing facility for automotive audio products. This comes after the company secured £7m (US$8.75m) in funding.
The new site, situated in Warwickshire, UK, will feature an energy-efficient facility powered entirely by renewable electricity.
The company’s new Electrostatic Audio Panels are nearing the end of the industrialization process. Warwick Acoustics says they are 90% lighter and require 90% less energy than traditional speaker systems.
MIRA Technology Park, known as Europe’s largest automotive research and development site, will enable increased production capacity of the panels and also house the design and project management teams.
The site is also undergoing additional sustainability initiatives, including the construction of a 7MW solar farm, which will contribute to its renewable energy supply. This initiative is expected to generate electricity equivalent to powering 2,300 houses.
Warwick Acoustics’ CEO, Mike Grant, said, “We have been based at MTP since 2018 and it has been a superb site for us to conduct the research, development and initial manufacturing of our products. As we enter series production, we are very proud to significantly expand our operations here.
“Manufacturing our product where we are based is important to us, not only for ensuring the sustainability and quality of our output but also because UK production offers real global competitiveness from where we can challenge industry norms in this huge US$8bn global market.”
